Merry Christmas! Rip and Tear!
If you want a small mayhem on your Christmas tree, you can check out out [Sprite_tm]’s very small Computer Christmas ornament. With 3D printing, that isn’t this sort of a tall purchase, but [Sprite]’s does have a one of a kind ability: it performs DOOM, as you can see in the video clip underneath.
The system uses an ESP32, and whilst [Sprite] had ported the iconic shooter to the microcontroller before, he made the decision to use a Match Boy port that is a lot more light-weight as an alternative. There had been a handful of good reasons for the selection, like the capability to do Bluetooth so you could connect controllers so you can enjoy the sport. The only catch was he had to pull off the flash memory and change it with a more substantial one (see the next video clip down below).
Granted, the screen is very small, so it is sort of a novelty. But if you want to have a go, the data files are all there. As you may well be expecting, there is a little battery and the circuitry necessary to recharge it, as effectively. We’d likely make an adapter to let it cost from the Xmas lights, but that can hold out for model 2.
The input product managing is a little bit bizarre. Bluetooth BLE units will quickly get an input machine that is in pairing method. There is no provision for connecting employing the “standard” Bluetooth mechanism. A entertaining venture and you could use the situation for some other small initiatives, as well. A larger sized flash on an ESP32 has a lot of prospects, as perfectly.
If you have to have a primer on the ESP32, we acquired it. If you want to engage in DOOM on a little something genuinely weird, consider seven-phase displays.
